Taken on Fox Glacier by me in rain and bluster in September 2003 having lugged my digicam and my sodden and freezing family on a walking tour up and over the glacier.
This image was originally monochromed and submitted in the "Erotic" photography section of DA where it was deleted by DA admins without warning. I have since learned that according to DA admins I know nothing about eroticism, because this picture does not contain any breasts, other scantily disguised genitalia nor does it resemble anything even slightly naughty. I and many others tend to disagree but you get that I suppose. There is NO image treatment (apart from cropping) of this image - it is as my digicam caught it. The colour of the ice is caused by sunlight being filtered through the ancient ice. I like this image a lot because I know of the agony I went thru to capture it. Your comments are welcome, I for one will be maintaining the rage - rare in this age that censors get it so wrong (ha!) |

so THIS is the infamous piece.
Personally If I Saw this in Erotic Photography, I'd agree with it being in there.
As a photo though, it's fantastic. Lovely. Love the shades and tones on the ice, and the light and shadows. Looks like it would have been a difficult photo to take, However it has turned out wonderfully.

I have not seen it in the erotic category. But When I tried a monochrome version of this I can tell why.
Indeed some people only think of erotism when there is slight nudity involved.
Wich is absolutely wrong. The mind is the most powerful tool. Not the eyes.
The eyes capture things, but the mind is free to wonder what it al can be.
